Again the use of masking fluid for the flowers(but not for the back ground outline this time :-) . However, I am never short of pitching-in in my own tricks, I did mask the holes in the dried up leaves too. Le me admit, this trick was to make up for my short-comings wrt control over the watercolor medium. They don’t say “neccessity is the mother of invention” for nothing!

Someday I hope to overcome my short-comings…then I could think of inventing something for others too.;-)

Also used dry wash, wet-on wet, and adding water to drying wash techniques.

Specification: 140lb coldpress paper, 8″x10″

Floral Duet

Floral Duet: Doesn’t the third flower bring more drama to the duet? What if it were not obscure, but prominent? A tango or a tangle? Well you could tell me how you feel about it, or just how you liked my painting here?

About the painting: I used masking fluid(frisket) to secure the flowers and finished with the background first -just as instructed by ‘Ann Blockley*’. Being a new user of the masking fluid, got tempted to secure the boundary of background to make my life easy. Would have been difficult to get the random-edge for a straight forward guy like me. ;-)

* ->Please read previous blog to know about Ann Blockley.

My Testing …1 4 3…the numbers are mixed up… just how i feel as I step-out to blog. I do not know what to expect back…may be not expecting anything in return, just like in love, would be the best idea. Amen!

Would like you invite you all into ‘my world of Watercolor painting’.

Here I plan to follow Ann Blockley’s book ‘Flower Painting through the season’. I would take up various ‘projects’ and other paintings from her book and try to learn various techniques as I march through the seasons for one full year- Just like the movie ‘Julie & Julia’ (pls watch it if you haven’t). In the movie, a working New York Lady tries all the recipe from her favourite Chef’s book across the year. Self motivating herself against all day-to-day odds and difficulties of a married working lady in a busy city.

I could certainly use some cheering up as I take up this marathon. :-)
